Sergei Prokofiev in Paris - 4 June, 1924, at night
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 4 June 1924, page 65:
In the evening, Ptashka, Suvchinsky and I were at the Diaghilev premiere of Auric's Les Fâcheux, P.P.* wearing my top hat. He greatly admired the sets, but had nothing particular to say about the music. As for myself I could not go so far as to say I liked the music, but at least it did not enrage me as Poulenc's had done. it may not be very talented, but in any case it was not as scandalously bad as Biches. Diaghilev ignored me (and Suvchinsky), the first time he has pulled a weird stunt like that.
