Sergei Prokofiev in Paris - 4 November, 1924, at night

from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 4 November 1924, page 112:

Sashenka [Alexander Tcherepnin] came on stage looking sheepish, but he played well, although as a composer who can play rather than as a pianist. This was as a matter of fact what appealed to me about his playing. Nikolay Nikolayevich [Tcherepnin] was very keyed up about his son, and had clearly had a bit too much to drink, as is usually the case with him these days.
