Sergei Prokofiev in Palais Garnier - 2 February, 1925, at night
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 2 February 1925, page 137:
Went with Schubert to the Grand Opéra for a performance of Boris Godunov. Koshetz in the part of Marina. An appalling production - Paris should be ashamed of an institution like this! It was limp, incoherent, the scenery ancient, in short a disgrace. Nor was Nina Pavlovna herself up to much: the role is too low for her, and she has put on weight to an embarrassing extent. All the same, she is having great success in paris and neighbouring countries, and has eclipsed Janacopulos.
