Sergei Prokofiev in Denver - 11 January, 1926, at night
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 11 January 1926, pages 251-252:
We were entertained by a local composer and singer, and light refreshments. Both one and the other were bad. All the same, one must give credit to the fact that these societies exist for the specific purpose of acquainting people with new music, and for that reason I am received with respect and they do their best to celebrate what I do without snide grins or complaints that I am not playing Chopin, as happened on my previous tours of America when I was playing not for Pro Musica but appearing in ordinary concert series.
