I heard Elgar's Symphony in London - It starts off with a theme out of the Parcival Prelude - a little altered - The slow movement is a theme out of Verdi's Requiem - a little altered - The rest is Mendelssohn & Brahms - thick & without the slightest Orchestral charm - gray - and they all shout "Masterwork"! - The only thing to be said in its favor is that it is better manufactured than the rest of the English composers' compositions - But it is a work dead born - (...)
