Thomas Moore in Bromham, Wiltshire - 6 September, 1818, in the afternoon

from Diary of Thomas Moore, 6 September 1818, page 156:

Dined at half past two, and went to church. The psalm singing execrable, actual suffering to listen to it; and if penance and mortification be good for the soul, both preacher and singers inflict them on me abundantly at church.
