in Paris - 10 December, 1821
from Memoirs, Journal and Correspondence of Thomas Moore, pages 307–308:
Lord Granard dined with us to go and see Marie Mercandotti’s debût at the French Opera; the Storys, Macleods, and we have taken three boxes for it: Lord Dunsany of our party. The “Caravane de Caire” and “Nina.” Marie succeeded, but rather fell short of the expectations she gave me in rehearsing. Bigottini perfect in Nina; such dumb show with sweet music beyond all the tragedies in the world.
