[W]e set out for Peterhead, which at one time was the chief fishery port in the North.  I shall never forget the stormy night on which I gave my concert, which was well attended.  During the performance, the whole audience were alarmed by the sound of the rockets summoning the lifeboat crew; and they were on their feet in a moment, there being a number of the crew present.

Every man, woman, and child in the hall, went to see the lifeboat launched.  We remained for their return, and we were not disappointed, for, like the cat, they all came back to hear the finish of the concert.
