audiences at the Empire Theatre, Glasgow in Empire Theatre, Glasgow - early May, 1899
from W.F. Frame Tells His Own Story, page 118:
My services were secured while I was in the States, to make my first re-appearance in Glasgow, on 1st May, at the Empire Theatre in a two-weeks’ engagement.
I duly fulfilled it, and received such a welcome from crowded houses that one would have imagined I had been absent for years instead of months. I opened with a new song which ran thus―
“Oh have you been to Yankee land?
That is where they do the grand.”
