Returned to the inn (the Angel) to dine, and went to the Opera in the evening; a very pretty theatre, and the novelty of its appearance particularly striking to me. A large space round the seats of the pit, in which the men walk about, and talk as in a coffee-house. The opera, “La Capricciosa Pentita,” and a ballet upon some Roman subject. The dancers very awkward.
