On Monday Sir James arrived about an hour before dinner. We like him every day better and better, and he is now quite like one of ourselves. He seems very much in love with Isabella, and she is not behind-hand in liking him. He makes her play for him every evening on the pianoforte, and sits over her, admiring her. We have the pianoforte in the ante-room, and we talk in the drawing-room with the door open. […] On Tuesday we had nobody here but Sir James. We sauntered about, sat out, and sometimes they went to the pianoforte.
