I have seen a Play, & Opera acted by Fryars;the Monks of St Victor: those who were not employed on the Stage play’d in the Orchestra, & those who did neitherentertain’d the Company:  […] as no Women must be admitted to act with them on the Stage, they get Soprano Singers to represent the female Parts, and I saw them blush at the Freedoms used to them by the Fryars in tender Scenes. 

I must acknowledge that the Tragic part was very touching, & affected me even to Tears: I was surprized likewise to see how well they understood those feelings of parental Fondness, from the Experience of which they were so completely excluded.
