31st [December, 1837].—Longparish. Sunday. I have been so employed with business, friends, and music, from breakfast till after midnight every day this week, that I was quite indifferent to the week's rainy and unpleasant weather that we have had, and if we, please God, enjoy the new year as we have done the last week of the old one, we shall have no reason to complain.
