In the evening I went to Borovsky's concert. Every year that goes by he plays better and better, and has now become an absolutely remarkable pianist. He played my 'Scherzo' from Op. 12, a piece I have never myself managed to bring off to perfection, at such a speed I was afraid he must stumble. But he sailed through one difficulty after another, and although he slightly muffed the ending, flew like the wind to the final note and elicited a storm of applause from the audience. |
