It is likely that none of them [Pedro Gonzales and his Caribbean Rhythm] has ever been within ten thousand miles of the Caribbean, and probably couldn't find it on a map.  This in its way, was an oblique homage to other bands I remember listening to on the wireless as a kid: Liverpool-born Macari and his Dutch Serenaders and London-born Felix Mendelssohn and his Hawaiin ditto.
