Letter from John Collier to his wife, Mary Collier, 24th May 1737

I have been at Vauxhall, where there is great improvements of the musick. The Prince of Wales was there with a party that night, but not the princess. It was last Saturday night after my letter, being a sudden motion; Mr Fuller, Coppinger, brother Cranston, self and Jemmy. My sister not a little affronted, I beleive [sic], about it with my brother, at her not going, though she had complained the whole day, and I don’t know whether she yet knows the prince was there. We accidentally went with them on the water from about Westminster, and there was a musick boat with trumpets and french horns that made it very agreeable.
