In the evening I donned tails because I was going to the Konshins later on, and went to the Drozdov concert. Max, to achieve matching stylishness in our apparel, also put on tails, and so amid the drab audience we stood out in dazzling splendour, which as a matter of fact I found very embarrassing. Drozdov plays with great intelligence and has a good command of tonal gradation, but he bangs too much and try as he may cannot get the audience in the palm of his hand. I was bored, and soon left to go to the Konshins. |
