Up at 5.30. Very wet & stormy morning, Started at 6, for Port[madoc] - got dripping wet - arr[ive]d in time for the Harlech train, - Co[mpany] of J. H. Jones of Llanrwst. Musical gossip.

- Breakfast in Har[lech] members of Machynlleth choir - coarse vulgar talk - obscene jests. rude laughter. not creditable to our Welsh youth.-

 

Towards castle - still wet - attendance miserable - Rain dripping down through the canvas roof - 7 choirs, the Festiniog, [?Grange] and Penllwyn choirs being ablest - singers pres[en]t a cred[ib]le appearance.
