The only new singer was the first man, Bruni, whom I had heard at Florence. He certainly was improved since that time, but still he was very weak and poor in comparison with his predecessors. He would indeed at times recall some of the tones and manner of Rubinelli, but was greatly inferior to him in every respect. |
