[...] we went to the Rose and Crown and drank tea with all the Members who were all females except Mr Ward, Mr Tom Poole, Mr Forbes and myself. The women enjoyed themselves and were very merry and besides tea and bread and butter they had two immense cakes cut into slices and given among them.
