[...] we went to the Rose and Crown and drank tea with all the Members who were all females except Mr Ward, Mr Tom Poole, Mr Forbes and myself. The women enjoyed themselves and were very merry and besides tea and bread and butter they had two immense cakes cut into slices and given among them. After this we had a few songs from some of the Females who had good voices and then my wife and I moved off and indeed so did most of the company.
