In the company of his [Vladimir Deshevov's] brother we went to Pavlovsk to hear the concert. Kajanus was conducting, so sadly Aslanov was not there. I did not meet any friends of acquaintances there, but we still enjoyed ourselves. Volodya is a very nice fellow but perhaps a little jejune when compared with Max? The orchestra librarian told me that they do not have a single available copyist in the orchestra. I will have to look for one in St. Petersburg. Sibelius's En Saga has many interesting passages, but it is too long and lacks shape. |
