Jullien was a versatile genius, and in all respects a very remarkable man. His ability as a soloist on many instruments was extraordinary. I remember hearing him, when I was a boy, in Manchester, England, perform solos on the violin, piccolo, althorn, French horn, comet, and trombone,—one instrument after the other,—displaying virtuosity on each.
