My wife's father was very fond of music, and played himself on the violin. He used to sit, and never take his eyes off my boy's hands, as he ran up and down the keyboard. Then I got a couple of books of overtures, arranged for the piano and violin, and, by dint of practising together, we were enabled to play some of them at the concerts given in the schoolroom.
