In the evening I went to Koussevitzky's concert in the People's House to hear Medtner's account of Beethoven's Fourth Piano Concerto. He plays wonderfully, and the first of the two cadenzas he composed is very successful, but the second is not good style and just too Medtnerish. The most interesting aspect of the concert was that I met Marinochka Pavlova again. |
