May 12th.—Went to town about my works, my large double gun, and various other matters of business. Had, one evening, an interview with Rossini, the god of Italian music; found him a very pleasant man, and was afterwards much gratified by going to his concert, to which nothing but knowing him could have got me admittance at so short a notice, not being a subscriber. |
