The concert was under the patronage of H.R.H. Prince Frederick William of Prussia, who married the Princess Royal in 1858, and afterwards became German Emperor. I well remember their marriage, at which I was present, through the kindness of the Countess Bernstorff, who gave me a ticket for a seat on a stand which was erected in one of the courtyards in St. James's Palace, where about seven hundred people were seated. I saw the various court processions and the bridal cortege pass, and heard the music which was being performed at the Chapel Royal. It was an unforgettable occasion.
