In the evening I went to the student concert; it did not look like a particularly interesting programme, but all the same I love these occasions. For the first part I sat with [Eleonora] Damskaya and her rather beautiful sister, so I was not bored. I had not realised that Umnenkaya would be singing: she was warmly applauded but did not actually sing very well.
