Went to a morning rehearsal of Stravinsky's Pribaoutki, which Janacopulos was rehearsing with an orchestra of eight players for its New York premiere. I remember Stravinsky playing it from his manuscript score in Milan in 1915 and liking it very much then. Now I listened to the rehearsal with great interest, and did as much as I could to help the orchestra players make sense of their parts. Much of it sounds marvellous. |
