In the winter months grandpa would stay sitting in his high backed wooden armchair and sing to me whilst I washed the dishes. He sang about ‘Rosalie the Prairie Flower’ and ‘Turn about and wheel about and jump Jim Crow’ amongst others. After each song he would enquire ‘What d’you think of that Jeanie?’ and I would reply gravely, ‘Very nice Grandpa’. |
