Collected Ptashka* and the little one** and brought them back. Ptashka approved of the flat. The piano was brought in today, a grand, they could hardly get it in. We have particularly unappealing neighbours: below us lives a girl who keeps on bashing out the most terrible rubbish on the piano from six o'clock in the evening until half past ten. I am in despair, especially if this is going to go on for three months. I hammered on the floor with my heels, very loudly, her response to which was to shriek indignantly.
