In the evening I went to an Apollon event, where Koussevitzky played some early music pieces on the double-bass. It was touching to see the two concert managers, Ziloti and Koussevitzky, rivals and erstwhile enemies, warmly shaking each other by the hand and outdoing one another in courtesies. |
