We were hardly out of theatres, there was so much to see. I saw a poor production of Die Fledermaus, which introduced the Blue Danube waltz, the men’s places being filled by the fattest travesties I have ever seen. How revolting they looked in their satin knee-breeches. A production of Rosenkavalier was much more exciting, and I enjoyed every moment of it. |
