Among the others who were joining Yesipova's class along with me* I should mention the very young Malinskaya**. A student of Vengerova, she had moved up to the Senior course in the spring, gaining a 5+ in the technical part of the test. Since those moving to the Advanced course include a lot of people who aren't really up to much, this five star greatly intrigued me, so I went to hear Malinskaya's repertoire exam. I met her on that occasion and was able to calm her down before she went on stage. She did indeed play marvellously: most lively and convincing. |
