[Email dated 29 June 2005] I do want to tell you that I regard the recent [Spitalfields] Festival as an outstanding one in a line of outstanding occasions. This summer I have been able to attend more concerts than ever before. All have been splendid but ‘On Spital Fields’ was superb. It is a great tribute to the Festival that its stature is such that it can commission such a marvellous community cantata and one of such high quality musically. Will you please allow me to congratulate the composer, yourself and everyone involved in this large-scale production. […] |
