[Letter dated 9 September 2005] Please forgive my not writing to thank you sooner for the DVD of “On Spital Fields”, but, due to various setbacks, we have seen it only this week[.] […] […] We were almost speechless at the end of viewing and, because of the first-class screening, sound and audibility, we could have imagined we were in Christ Church itself. I even found myself singing along with some of the choruses—it was so tuneful. What an achievement on the part of so many participants, from Jonathan Dove [composer] and Alasdair Middleton [librettist] right down to the smallest child. What an advertisement for multicultural cooperation and harmony. We both admired the ladies of the Wessex Singers! |
