In the evening I went to an orchestral concert of contemporary music conducted by Straram. Delage, Casella, Ravel's Valses nobles - all deeply soporific. There was more life about the Italian Rieti, whose piece had much charm and wit; but no Italian can resist the temptation from time to time to lapse into a special kind of Italian vulgarity - a pity! |
