Breakfasted with the Fitzgeralds. They sent for Field, the organist of the cathedral, and told him I meant to attend the service: he went off to prepare something good. Took my place, as we went to church, in a coach that was to set off at one. A chant of Lord Mornington’s sung; a beautiful response, which I brought away in my memory. Could not wait for the anthem. |
