Morton Gould completely ruined Billy the Kid at the Stadium last week, to say nothing of Newsreel, which isn’t so hot to begin with, to say nothing of Roy’s [Harris’s] Ode to Truth, which – well, I can’t even describe it, except as an eternal measure of of turdlike notes that will never be counted out. It’s a piece with his three tricks in it, and it does make a very unpleasant sound. What else? Seems like I’ve given out with a lot of news. I’ll have nothing to say when I’ve arrived....
