Write much more of Vln Part in morning. usual practise. Walks after tea with Tumpty, Gates, & Summers in the park. After dinner go to marvellous B.B.C. concert (at 9.45) at Studio, with Bridges. Wagner Faust ov. & Strauss Don Juon. Marvellous works, thrilling & moving. Glazunov’s dry & academic 6th Symphony. I have never heard the orch. play better; they were enthusiastic about his conducting, & I don’t wonder! He introduced me to Harry Barlow, the world’s greatest Tuba player, who showed me alot about the instrument, & also told us a little about his life’s study of the instrument, … more >>
