One afternoon we had an unexpected visitor. As if from nowhere, Francis Poulenc appeared with “Allô, allô, allô,” trotted straight to the piano, played a witty, short piece, and then, waving his hands and throwing kisses at us, ran out, leaving us chuckling over such a brief appearance, performance, and disappearance.
