Benjamin Britten in Royal Academy of Music - 2 June, 1933

from Journeying boy : the diaries of the young Benjamin Britten 1928-1938, page 142:

At 4.0 the Quartet (N. Caine, R. Lauricella, F. Riddle, & Ber. (B. Richards)) go to R. Acadamy to play my Phant. to the Mendelssohn Schol. Committee. Unfortunately it goes v. badly once again. Of course they are only students, but Lauri made in both performances some unforgivable howlers, - Lack of experience of course.
