Charles Burney in Santa Trinita convent, Florence - 2 September, 1770
... I went to the church of the convent al Santa Trinitá where I heard a mass in music set by Signor Valente, which I thought but indifferent any more than the performance both vocal and instrumental. Signor Sabbatini one of the principal violins here played a concerto which was not very striking in any one particular.
