Alan Plater in Hull - the 1940's
from Doggin' around, page 8:
[D]uring the war, a touring show called Wings came to the New Theatre in Hull. Produced by Ralph Reader of Scout Gang Show fame, the only thing I remember was the band, which must have been the famous RAF Dance Band that was later transformed into the Squadronnaires. It's even possible - though impossible to verfiy - that Kenny Baker, with whom I was to have a memorable grown-up association was onstage that night.
