Sergei Prokofiev in Saint Petersburg Conservatory - 5 March, 1914, in the afternoon

from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 5 March 1914, page 614:

I went into the Small Hall, where the fifth day of the examinations was in full wing. Entry to the hall is forbidden while a performance is going on, so I went to the artists' room to listen from there. I was just about to open the door when it swung wide of its own accord, and I found myself face to face with Struve. 'How kind of you to open the door for me,' I said, and went inside. One of Vengerova's students was playing a Schumann sonata (mine), but so badly that I soon went away.
