Igor Stravinksy in Prague
from Memories and Commentaries, page 275:
Mendelssohn’s elegance attracted me early in my career, as my Scherzo fantastique indicates, but my appreciation of Weber started in the 1920s, with a performance of Der Freischütz in Prague conducted by Alexander von Zemlinsky. After that, I acquainted myself with all of Webern’s music, with the result that his sonatas may have exercised a spell over me at the time I composed my Capriccio.
