Sergei Prokofiev in Berlin - early November, 1922, at night
from Sergey Prokofiev diaries: 25 February - 23 November 1922, page 682:
Koussevitzky conducted a concert in Berlin including the March and the Scherzo from Three Oranges. I thought it was an ill-advised idea to debut in Berlin with such small pieces, but Koussevitzky had already settled his programme and there was no room to squeeze in the Scythian Suite. I sat in a box with Mme Koussevitzky, Diaghilev and Lourié. To this last-names I turned my back, not so much on account of his being a Bolshevik Commissar, but because he is a rotten composer trying to get his foot in the foor. The excerpts from my music passed without attracting much notice.
