Verbena Daphne Brighton in Gissing Village, Norfolk - September, the 1920's
from Nuts in May: memories of care-free days, pages 80-81:
The following Monday [after the Harvest Thanksgiving service] was the day when the produce from the chapel was sold in aid of the chapel funds. This meant another outing for us. We tracked down the road with all the other families, as the church goers enjoyed this little get together. We sang the Wesleyan hymns, said a prayer or two and then the auctioneering began.
