Men of the 14th Light Dragoons et al. in Coimbra, Portugal - 30 April, 1809

from Journal entry, 30 April 1809, page 43:

Our arrival [in Coimbra] was announced by a ringing of bells, which brought out crowds of the inhabitants, who lined the road, bridge, and town, to receive us with vivas and huzzas; and the troops, while passing, were covered with flowers from all the windows of the Senhoras.  At night, we had a grand illumination.
