[Cecil Harwood was one of nine children]

Sometimes we would have the gramophone on at home, it was “His Master’s Voice”. Each one of us would chose [sic]a record which was played in turn so we all had what we wanted. The gramophone was owned by all the family as we put an equal share in the kitty, records were bought by those who could afford the money, 1/- for a two-sided record, 100 needles for 6d. It was good value for money. We had a good collection of old time songs and ballads, some of which can be heard to-day [1978] on T.V. from “The Good Old Days” from Leeds.
