In the morning I went to the Chapel Royal with Lady Tancred. After having been driven from post to pillar for places, we got two seats in the aisle, close by the singing boys, and heard the Bishop of London read the Communion Service very unimpressively, and the Archbishop of York preached a very gentlemanlike, sensible sermon, but one to which it was quite impossible to pin one’s attention, for want of something to warm and interest one.
